You may take the programs in any order that reflects your learning needs at the time. Our certificates feature a core program or programs that introduce you to what we consider the core competencies of the field. The remaining programs offer a deeper exploration of each area. For this reason, we find that participants in the Certificate stream benefit most by taking the foundational program first.
Queen’s IRC offers participants maximum flexibility to customize their individual training needs. Upon request, participants with advanced expertise may skip the foundational program, and choose another program from our entire program lineup, for credit towards a Certificate. Participants must earn 12 credits to earn a Certificate.
We attach no timeline for achieving your Certificate. Once you have earned a credit, you have earned the credit. We do recommend, however, that participants complete their Certificate within one to six years. Most people earn their Certificates within three years.
That’s fine. All of our programs may be taken individually, and you can mix and match the courses in labour relations, human resources and organization development, depending on your learning needs. At the conclusion of each program, you are given a Certificate of Completion.
Yes. Participants who take an IRC custom program may also use their training days as credits towards a Certificate.
Program fees include tuition, program binder, materials, breakfast, lunches, snacks and some dinners. You are responsible for transportation, accommodation, and additional meals. For participants requiring information to assist with travel arrangements to Kingston, please click here.
Program fees include tuition, a digital program workbook and materials.
As a rule, we strongly suggest that you attend each course in its entirety, however, we do understand that “things happen.” If you know the hours that you will be unable to attend, please let us know and we can advise as to whether this is something that can be accommodated. If something comes up during a course and you must miss some time, please advise our Program Coordinator immediately. Note that if you are forced to miss extended time, we may request that you re-attend the program at a later date to be issued your course credit(s) and Certificate of Completion.
We request that you remain engaged throughout the course, with your camera turned on, as much as possible. Participants who miss extended time and core learning outcomes may not be eligible to receive course credits, at the discretion of our staff and course facilitators.
Can we all attend on one screen? While our course participants are encouraged to share their learning with colleagues after the conclusion of a course, only one participant can attend “per screen”. Note that groups are eligible for tiered discounts starting at three or more participants.
Digital materials will be available for download a few days before the virtual program starts. As of February 2021, all course materials for virtual programs are available in digital format only. All files can be printed or worked on in their digital format. Hard copies of materials are not currently available.
