News AND EVENTS

Looking Back on 2013…
As the year draws to a close, I would like to reflect on some of the highlights for Queen's IRC. This year we launched a new easier-to-navigate website and began using social media. We have produced a number of short videos about our programs, along with a Tip of the Week series and Q&A clips from our interviews with facilitators and experts. Our Archive Revitalization Project was launched, and has added many terrific resources to the Research and Resources section of our website.

Queen’s IRC Tip of the Week Videos – Fall 2013
Throughout the program season, Queen's IRC releases a video "Tip of the Week" from our expert facilitators and speakers each week via our social media sites. These are the "Tip of the Week" videos that we released in the fall of 2013.

Give Your Organization the Edge in 2014
We're listening to you. Our recent Sales and Marketing Survey results revealed that over 70% of respondents like early bird/ promotional discounts. While we normally offer an early-bird discount if you register more than 60 days ahead of the program, we decided for a limited time only, to double your early bird discount when you register for a 2014 program. You will save $750 on 4-5 day programs and $350 on 2-3 day programs if your register before December 31, 2013.

Queen’s University IRC is pleased to announce a collaborative partnership with the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business in Trinidad. This agreement will allow us to bring existing programming to a different audience and to develop exciting learning opportunities with a new partner.

Join Queen’s IRC at the Top Employer Summit
Queen’s IRC will be attending the Top Employer Summit, which takes place on November 13-14, 2013 at The Hilton Hotel in downtown Toronto. The Top Employer Summit presents a spectacular line-up of world-class speakers, thought-leaders and the best case studies from their annual competition, Canada’s Top 100 Employers project. The Keynote speaker at this year’s conference is Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Queen’s IRC Marketing Survey Results and Winners
With over 850 responses to our Queen's IRC Marketing survey, I am pleased to announce the winners of the $50 coffee cards, and share some of the results with you. Eighty-seven percent of our respondents have five or more years of experience in the human resources, labour relations or organizational development professions. The majority of our respondents (69%) are in the 40 to 59 age group. About 23% of the respondents are unionized, and 47% identified HR as their primary role within their organization.

Queen’s IRC Archive Revitalization Project
The Queen’s IRC archive revitalization project has been unveiled. The goal of the project, driven by Queen’s IRC Director Paul Juniper, was to digitize archive publications to make them available to the public once again. “I am excited to be able to share our IRC research and publication history in a new and accessible way,” said Juniper.

Let’s get connected – Queen’s IRC goes social
We are pleased to announce the launch of our new videos on the Queen's IRC YouTube channel. Take a sneak peek inside the IRC classroom and hear from our facilitators and participants about some of our most popular programs: Negotiation Skills, Managing Unionized Environments, and Labour Arbitration Skills. The Q&A series of videos feature our expert facilitators answering questions about current issues in the labour relations and human resources field.
