Dementia Care Innovation in the Region of PeelThe first article in this series focuses on the Region of Peel’s bold decision to pilot and implement a ground breaking approach for dealing with people living with dementia. This model of care has proven effective at dramatically enhancing residents’ quality of life and wellbeing, their family’s satisfaction and involvement, as well as employee engagement, fulfillment and retention, all while reducing the number of incidents, and creating more positive relationships all around.

Key information for this piece comes from an interview with Mary Connell, Project Manager for the Butterfly Initiative Implementation at the Region of Peel.

In the series, we will look at the methodology used by these innovative organizations leveraging the 4D Process – Define, Discover, Design and Do, created by IRC’s Brenda Barker Scott. But first, a look at why today’s organizations are transforming service delivery, and the increasing role that Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and Spiritual Intelligence (SQ) play in design and implementation.

So how do we put Humpty Dumpty back together again, if all the King’s horses and all the King’s people could not?

Google’s Project Aristotle
In 2012, Google undertook a multi-year initiative to answer one question: what makes some workplace teams soar while others fail miserably. The research team, which included organizational psychologists, statisticians, engineers and sociologists, studied the literature and over 150 Google teams. They found five (5) behavioural norms that all successful teams shared.

When considering a Queen's IRC program, there are at least 3 reasons to register early!

1. Early-bird Discount – If you register 60 days or more before the program, you will receive the early-bird discount. Save $300 on 4 and 5 day programs, $150 on 2 and 3 day programs. Discounts are automatically applied when you register online.

2. Secure Your Seat – Our programs fill up quickly. To avoid disappointment and to ensure that you have a seat in the program, register early!

3. Preferred Hotel Room Rate – We typically have a hotel room block at a discounted rate for course participants, available until rooms run out or approximately one month before the program. Avoid paying last-minute or high season prices by registering and booking your hotel early to ensure you receive the exclusive participant room rate.
