
Queen’s IRC Collaborates with DeloitteBy Stephanie Noel This year the IRC is focusing its efforts on raising the bar of service excellence, and diversifying our programming options. One of the ways in which we are accomplishing this strategic objective is creating collaborative partnerships both within the Queen’s community and more broadly with external stakeholders. Accordingly, Queen’s IRC will collaboratively partner with Deloitte to offer a unique event that targets HR executives across Canada. On December 1, Queen’s University will host a one-day HR Governance Symposium. Queen’s IRC and Deloitte have chosen to jointly launch an HR Governance Symposium because we recognize that effective governance is increasingly viewed as an integral component of success for organizations in the public, para-public, and not-for-profit sectors. The term governance, however, remains grounded in financial considerations. HR governance is emerging as a priority for organizations, a viable tool to help manage economic concerns in the public sector, coupled with the inevitable HR challenges of the future. Globalization, talent shortages, an aging population, the imperative for enhanced accountability for people-related performance, and the need for greater transparency of executive compensation practices are some of the future challenges. Therefore, the Queen’s IRC-Deloitte symposium is designed to raise awareness about HR governance, and to inform practitioners about the topic by highlighting relevant research and practical perspectives on formal and internal HR governance. We invite all senior leaders who want to learn why HR governance is becoming increasingly important, what the contemporary HR governance trends and practices related to both Board and internal HR governance are, and how to apply and implement contextually relevant practices in your organization, to register for this exclusive symposium.
